Knox Ridge has seen a dramatic increase in progress since last month. Most exciting, is that nine out of our thirteen buildings are being worked on right now.

Co-owner of Knox Ridge, Kelly Mahoney, described the project as, “one big continuous effort,” saying that construction is happening all over the property to ensure all needs are being met for timely completion.

At this stage of construction, there are so many contractors working on so many different projects that you can see maybe 100 people working on the site on any given day. These projects range from carpentry to electrical to roofing and framing.

Walking through the property, you can see new walls being raised by cranes, and crews spread across the property working on multiple projects, leaving you with the feeling that everything is coming together.

Some buildings have had their top floors framed, and others already sport roofs. Some interior projects have already begun including the stairs so that workers can get from level to level.

Doors and patio slabs are popping up, and windows have been framed out, waiting for installation at a later date.

The buildings have been given a sturdy foundation, and concrete walls mark the outside of the townhomes for added stability.

The major footIMG_4345work has been finished, and we can expect to see progress shooting forward as we move closer to August.

As for the rest of the interiors? That work moves very quickly according to Mahoney, so we will see more progress their closer to the end of the project as the interiors are basically finishing touches (painting, flooring, and buying appliances).

Once the rest of the townhomes are standing, we can expect crews to move toward the community areas like the lazy river and 30+ person hot tub as well as the clubhouse.

Although we would love to take students on-site for tours, health and safety concerns are holding us back at the moment. However, as soon as it is safe to take students on-site, the opportunities for tours will be announced.

Construction crews are working 6-7 days a week to ensure that deadlines are met and that work is up to Knox Ridge’s standards. As you look at the buildings snaking their way up the mountain, the crew’s hard work is undeniable.

From newly placed shingles to newly framed top floors, progress at Knox Ridge is exploding. While we cannot yet take students on-site, students are encouraged to stop by our office at 2453 University Commons way for a virtual tour.
